How to - bring spring at your home!

Tuesday 21 April 2015

Even though we're in the middle of spring I still feel like I didn't quite have the chance to enjoy it as much as I wanted, mostly because the weather has gone crazy and you can never know if the next morning it will snow, rain or be amazingly hot and sunny.
However, I desperately needed to feel that spring is actually here, hence I added some spring decoration to my home.
With this post you can get some ideas on how to add up spring elements to your home and make it look pretty. Keep in mind you don't need to redecorate, since that would cost you a fortune, and that little details can really make the difference.

 1) Add some colour to your already existing furniture. Baby blue is such a nice and springy colour to use, and probably the ultimate 2015 one. Plus pastel colours always look nice and give this fresh/ spring look to your home.

2)Colourful cushions. This is a "must" if you want to slightly change the mood of your home. Cushions that are either colourful or full of roses always add this little something that is enough to totally transform your home.

3)Little colourful details plus flowers( either artificial or real).
Little details such as candles etc can really add up to your already decorated house. Try to think of a specific colour you like and play around with its shades by getting candles and other little stuff with which you transform your home to Spring itself. I have been liking pink and fuchsia at the moment. Also candles are a necessary part of creating a springy mood. This candle has such an amazing scent of fresh berries and yoghurt, that you cannot simply stop smelling it. You can find it in IKEA and it's really affordable. Concerning the flower pot I would have preferred to have fresh flowers at my home, however I like something a bit more long lasting and affordable since I can't have my own bouquet of flowers every day or so. But for anyone who wishes, fresh flowers are always the best solution to bring spring to your home.

4)Roses everywhere. Roses are for me at least the ultimate element of spring but also flowers in general. I just love roses so much I could literally have them everywhere in my home. Final thing that I am so obsessed about is the fairy lights on top of my bed head which add such a springy and happy but at the same time chilling and relaxing atmosphere to my room.
All in all, after having put so much effort and love to make this room my own and bring spring to it, you can all do it in your own way as all tastes are different and interesting. These are just some ideas which I hope you all like and find inspiring. Everything has been purchased from IKEA and is really affordable,
Until my next post,
Don't forget to live spring as much as possible,
Be happy and beautiful as you are,
xoxo,
Alina

MAC "Mineralize Skinfinish" vs Soap&Glory "Love at First Blush"

Monday 30 March 2015

Feeling extremely in a spring mood and after my March favourites, I thought what could possibly be better than a blush review to get you all ready, pink and glowing for the following spring months. I chose two blush options, one of them a bit expensive and high-end product and the other one a more affordable drugstore alternative.

The MAC "Mineralize Skinfinish" is one of the blushes belonging to the Mineralize collection which is a relatively newly introduced one. It consists of foundation, concealers, blushes, bronzers and powders. If you're wondering what the difference is between the basic and the mineralize ones, I believe it is the moisturising effect that these products offers along with the soft and oil-free consistency that they have. The reason I like this blush is that it's a mixture of pink with a touch of  shimmer colour and some brown undertones . Basically it's in the same philosophy as the very popular "baked blushes" and aims to give a really natural but at the same time healthy and beautifully pink toned cheek, just what you need for a "natural" or a "no makeup" look. It is pigmented and feels soft and light on your skin. It's shade is called Stereo Rose and you can find it in every MAC store.

The Soap&Glory "Love at First Blush" is one of the best drugstore alternatives to the Mac Mineralize blush. Practically and when compared to the MAC one, it consists of more or less the same colours plus a white colour. Just by moving your blush brush all around these gorgeous carousel of colours you get an amazing shimmer pink toned but with some slight brown undertones result. It looks so natural and wonderful on your cheeks and gives the natural, healthy-looking glow that everyone is seeking into a blush. There is nothing that I don't like about this product as it is an affordable blush that definitely worths the try. However if you're interested in getting it and as the Soap&Glory website doesn't deliver to every country, I would also suggest you have a look on Amazon.
Hope you all liked my post and don't forget to be beautiful and glowing,
Kisses,
Alina

MARCH FAVOURITES!

Saturday 28 March 2015

March is almost over and April is just around the corner so what's better than a March Favourites as a post. It's the first time I'm doing a month favourites, however I feel like I should have done it before. After going through everything that I have been using since March began, I finally found the products that I've been totally obsessed with and I'm reviewing them for you.

First things first, when spring comes, I feel like I always need a perfume to match my springy mood and that's why I leave wintery scents back and try to find a perfume which will be smelling like a fresh bouquet of flowers and at the same time fruity and juicy. And there's nothing better than the

  •  Juicy Couture La La "Malibu", a gorgeous perfume which immediately brings spring to wherever you spray it. It smells unbelievably well, reminding me of pink flowers and fruity smells, almost like a pink springy paradise which I'm totally fond of. Whoever is seeking for a new fresh and "juicy" smell(as the name indicates), this is the one.
Moving on to one of my biggest secrets which is obviously going to be revealed now is the reason why my hair looks so shiny, clean and fresh no matter what. This shampoo is much more than promising, especially when compared to its value for money. It's the
  • Anatomicals "Peachy Head Shampoo, for Suicidal Hair". I am so in love with this shampoo and I am definitely going to repurchase it because it's a saviour for my extremely damaged and million times dyed hair. It's a paraben free formula and the smell of it, is an intensely peachy one, so for everyone who likes peach, love at first use is guaranteed. Having washed my hair with it for a couple of months I realised how beneficial it was for me and how important it is to my life now. Nothing better than peach smelling hair for the spring months.(you can find it on Asos)
Moving on to makeup favourites, I chose the products which I normally use in a daily basis and have became my holy grail products.

  •  The NYX "Dewy Finish" Setting Spray, is a product I cannot now imagine my life without. When I first got it I didn't really thought there could be such a thing to actually keep your makeup flawless for hours but when I first tried this setting spray and had almost an entire night out and I came back I was taken aback by the fact that my make up was just like it was hours earlier and hadn't been smudged or removed at all. It's a holy grail product for me which I definitely recommend to everyone, plus it's price is good too.

  •    The MAC Mineralize Foundation, is one more thing that I loved throughout the month. Even though I am not a MAC foundation lover and I always found them not good enough for my skin, this one came to wholly change my perspective. What I love in it, it's the moisturising feeling I get every time I apply it all over my face and also I find it's smell quite good compared to what has been said about the smell of MAC foundations. Also, it's coverage it's medium without leaving the skin feeling heavy which is one of the things that also appealed to me.
  • The "Roller Lash" Mascara from Benefit, made me realise that there is mascara which can make my eyelashes amazingly stunning, voluminous and curly. Words aren't enough to express how lovely this mascara is and despite its price I do believe its totally worth it. The lovely packaging can't be ignored of course.
  • The Maybelline "24HR Colour Tattoo", is such a pigmented and gorgeous eyeshadow and is really easy to apply and blend with other eye shadows and I wish I would have the whole colour range because it's wonderful. I love the pink gold shade and the feeling of liquid it leaves on your lid when it is applied. I prefer using it on its own to achieve a "no makeup" look or a simple day at university. It can be applied without brushes and that's a certain advantage and is more long lasting than powder based eye shadows. I feel like that this specific shade couldn't get more springy and flowery.

Finally and coming towards the end of the post, a lip balm that loves my lips and makes them soft and kissable during the whole day.

  • The Maybelline "Baby Lips, Dr Rescue", lip balm is obviously one of the best since it doesn't only moisturise and nourishes my lips but also gives them a fresh scent of mint and a slight natural pink tone. Such a useful lip balm for dry lips which have suffered during winter and need desperately something to rescue them.
That's the end of my post and I hope you liked it. Don't forget to follow my blog both on google+ and on Bloglovin' to get updates for when a post comes out.
Till my next post remember that all of you are beautiful especially in spring,
xoxo,

Mac Cinderella Collection!

Thursday 26 March 2015

Having waited for such a long time for this collection, I am finally super excited to have it in my hands. So I thought why keep it to myself when I can share my happiness but also my views with you? I was so thrilled and fascinated both with movie and the collection since I've heard so many things about it. Does it finally worth the hype? That's something you'll know by the end of the post.
To begin with, I chose to pick just those products that I thought would worth their money. That's why I got three pieces of the collection to which I'll be referring in detail:
1)"Mystery Princess", Beauty Powder. This is basically a highlighter, at least in the way that I see it, which of course has shimmer in it and aims to give healthy glow and light to your skin. Applying just a small amount of product along your cheek bones, would make them look so shiny and healthy doing the highlighting job pretty well. However, I find it really nice as a finishing powder just by slightly tapping it all over your face giving it a nice glowy shimmer ideal for a "night out" look. The powder is pretty pigmented and I loved how it made my cheeks look healthy.
2)"Free as a Butterfly", Lipstick:Of course I couldn't miss the lipstick as I am a lipstick addict and can't live without them. I chose the beige nude shade because it's an all day wearable one.It has a lustre texture and it's moisturising, however don't count on the long lasting effect, since you might regularly need to renew it. All in all, although it's not a really long lasting one, I find the shade amazing and easily wearable especially if you are going for the "smokey-eye" look.
3)"Stroke of Midnight", Eyeshadow Palette:Last but not least the best thing of the Cinderella collection. The eyeshadow palette which is definitely the one thing you need to get if you are not fond of wasting much money on this collection. The palette is a bit pricey but when I tried it I couldn't but notice how unique and beautiful the colours are. The palette consists of 6 eye shadows all with a matte texture. It includes a colour range from a really bright beige/pink one to the wonderful and personally my favourite dark purple. The eye shadows are very pigmented but at the same time easy to blend and by experimenting with all of the shades you can either go for a natural or for a more extreme(smokey purple eye) look.
These are the products I chose to get as they appeal to my personal interests. I would highly recommend all these products to anyone still thinking whether to get them or not.
Until my next post, take care of yourselves and be beautiful, Kisses, Alina

Review on Miley Cyrus Viva Glam Lipstick

Wednesday 25 March 2015

After a long time of missing I decided to get back on the blogging track by posting every day or at least as long as I don't get too busy with other stuff. So I am back with a review on the new Mac lipstick which brings the signature of Miley Cyrus.
It belongs to the Viva Glam collection which basically means that every cent of the selling price of both the lipstick and the lipglass is donated to the Mac AIDS Fund to support people with HIV. I think this is such a nice and caring thing to do through beauty. It serves a really good purpose and tries to help people that face with certain difficulties and have to leave with a disease that will accompany them during their whole life.

Viva Glam has a basic lipstick collection available all year round and at times celebrities often launch their own(like Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Nicki Minaj etc). This time it was Miley Cyrus, with a gorgeous pink/fuchsia  fluorescent Mac lipstick which could not but being noticed since it's such a special and springy colour especially now that spring has finally begun. There is not much to say about the lipstick rather than it has an amazing shade, an amplified texture meaning that the colour is a moisturising but also a pretty pigmented one and you could notice that just by switching it in your hand.
All in all and in order to finish my post I would highly recommend this shade to people who want to make a spring statement with their lip colour and at the same time give money for a good purpose to actually help people with Aids.
Until my next post have a wonderful time and much love to you all,
xoxo Alina

Nominated For The Liebster Award

Monday 16 February 2015

I am so thrilled and excited and at the same time surprised by what I came across when I woke up this morning. Going through my mail and facebook and twitter just to check new posts, I found out I got nominated for The Liebster Awards by www.aspoonfulofdahlias.weebly.com. I can't find the words to say how happy and grateful I am as this is a big opportunity for people to get to know my small blog better. So basically I am going to answer to the questions I was given and then nominate 11 blogs and give them my 11 questions to answer.

                                                           Answering my questions
1)If you have a runway, which music will play?
Since it has been a dream of me to have my very own fashion runway, I have thought what my music and the tracks playing would be like. I think at this moment I would have Blank Space by Taylor Swift playing, but only the background music without the lyrics. I think it would made the perfect music for my runway.
2)What will you wear to Fashion Week? Picture please!
Unfortunately I don't think I would be able to go to fashion week since I don't live there, but at the moment I am living in Greece, but I promise next time that I will be possibly in London's Fashion Week I will make sure to upload my outfit.
3) Fashion for business or Fashion for art?
I personally don't think it's one way or another. You don't really get to choose one and if you do it will be really hard. I prefer to have a more balanced way of thinking about fashion. Definitely, you are not going to prosper efficiently if you only see fashion in the business way. Fashion is so complex and hard to define, and I believe that you should always care about how you are going to make fashion into a business, but at the same time never forget that fashion is a way of art and expression and it's really important to always treat fashion like an art if you want to achieve.
4)Tell us what do you think about avant garde
I think that is the perfect question after Fashion for art was stated above. Avant garde is such a beautiful and at the same time exaggerating way of expressing fashion. I love the fact that fashion can be divided into so many categories. Personally, I would love to have an avant garde photo shoot and have these excessive dresses the huge hats and all the wonderful baroque background at my photo. I don't know why I perceive the term avant garde like that but I have always thought that what defines it is exaggeration not in a cliche', out of the fashion way, but triggering to the imagination, revolutionary and innovative and that's what is important in fashion to me.
5)Choose one of these and tell me the reason; Edgy, Classy, Sporty, Hipster, Feminine
I definitely choose classy. That is what it would best work for me especially if I had to choose only one for my whole life. Classy is eternal, never expires never bores, it's always in fashion in a conservative but yet interesting and exciting way. Classy is such a nice word to tell to a young woman or to an older woman for her style. Classy is Chanel, Dior, Louis Vuitton. It is fundamental, and no matter how many other styles are invented from time to time this one will be able to stay forever.
6) If your blog were a shoes, what it would be?
I would, with no shadow of doubt, opt for the So Kate Blue Suede stiletto heel. Nothing else to say about these fantastic shoes. They are classic but in a new and innovative way due to their suede texture and colour. That's the way I am aiming my blog to be.
7) Link us your post that you like the most
Since my blog is a really new one I think from the posts that I have made so far, I would choose the one including my London Experience. London for me is the world I would give everything to live in. I love it so much and want to spend my whole life there, Nobody cannot not fall in love with London. It's simply astonishing and beautiful.
8)Funny thing that ever happened during blogging
That is a great way to embarrass myself publicly in front of all the readers. Basically when I was writing my first post I was cooking at the same time, and I got so distracted writing that I totally forgot and ignored the bad smell on my kitchen which was coming from the food that I burned. It wasn't so funny when it happened but when it did and fortunately my house was safe I couldn't stop laughing at my silliness.
9)What is the best part of being in this awesome community (bloggers)?
Like the question says, the bloggers community is awesome. The power of the Internet and how news are spread is amazing. Part of the Internet power is the creation of an inconceivably huge blogging community which includes millions of people which is such a great number. The best part of belonging to such a wonderful community is that you get the feeling of actually belonging somewhere. It's so thrilling to know that people out there read your blog and like it. It's the best feeling that I could ever get in my entire life. People that acknowledge your effort and your hard-work and like your blog.
10)Is blogging is the part of your personal life or part of your professional life?
I think blogging is part of both my personal and my professional life. I started this blog thinking that I could share personal views and experience with the rest of the world. Now that I come to thinking more and more about it every day I think I would love to make it a profession along with my You Tube channel so that it could be a part of my professional life. At least that's the way I see it.
11)3 words that describe your blog
     1.Personal
     2. New
     3. Pretty
(I couldn't really think so that's what I ended writing)

My Top 5 MAC lipsticks

After been away for a while, I decided to do a "Top 5 Mac Lipsticks" based on my personal tastes. All of these five shades are different and look amazing on the lips. However, the texture is matte which means that some may not really like it as it can sometimes dry your skin, but on lips with no dryness issue it will look fantastic. Sorry for the picture quality and I hope you enjoy my picks.

"Flat Out Fabulous"

"Relentlessly Red"

"Heroine"

"Nouvelle Vogue"

Let's talk about Soap&Glory

Wednesday 4 February 2015

I came up with the idea of a Soap&Glory product review after a nice and relaxing bath after a hard day. Soap&Glory is one of the reasons I wanna take a shower or run a long bath, scrub and moisturise my body. Soap&Glory is a company that mainly makes shower and bath products, everything we need to feel nice and clean in a daily basis. It also makes cosmetics whose quality is amazing especially when compared to the reasonable prices. After going through the difficulty of choosing my four favourite Soap&Glory products, I eventually and happily present it to you.
Moving clockwise , there is the most amazing Bubble Bath which has offered me hours and hours of relaxation in the bath. It smells amazing and it's easy to use since you just put as much as you want in your bathtub's water and ta-dah!You've got your bubbles waiting for you! It's the Calm One Calm All Bubble Bath made from lemon balm, mallow and moisture-magnetising skin conditioners. Apart from the unbelievably sweet smell it does help you dive into a relaxation mood, more like nirvana, leaving your skin soft and nice-smelling.
Next to it lies the Hand Food which is basically a hydrating hand cream and is literally food for your hands. I normally hate hand creams because they always leave you with an oily, greasy feeling and the only thing you want to do is wash your hands, so they are of no use. However this hand cream is a really fast-absorbing one and non-greasy that at the same time makes your hands soft and hydrated. It's a winter essential for me since I always need to moisturise my hands from getting dry from the bad weather,
The next two products are small ones, because I got them in travel size as they appeared to be more compact and handy to me. The one on the left is the Scrub 'em and Leave 'em body buff. It's a scrub and it's used to keep all the dead cells away from the body and make your skin breathe. You just put the amount of scrub you need to use on your hands and then with circle moves rub it on your body and finally rinse it off until it all goes away. After you've scrubbed your skin and in order to avoid any kind of dryness, body butter is highly recommended. And there's nothing best than the Daily Smooth Body Butter with Roseship Seed Oil and Cocoa Butter. Like all of the other products it does have a smell that gives you the feeling of being in a spa. It's an amazingly-effective dry skin Formula and gives all the hydration that your body needs.
These are not the only products of Soap&Glory but just a small sample of what this brand offers to you and your skin. There is an incredible wide range of sweet and fruity smelling products which I hope you are excited about. You can find those products on their website www.soapandglory.com but unfortunately there isn't shipping to every country.

My London Experience

Friday 30 January 2015

What can I possibly say about my trip to London?I can only express my feelings by saying that this was by far my best time in London since the last time I was there. London has always been one of my great loves and the city where I would love to live for the rest of my life. And that was exactly the reason why I decided to take this short trip to the European capital. I spent four days in London from the 22nd to the 26th of January and stayed at a friend's house who was lovely enough to have me at her home. I lived in central London, hence I was really close to a million of sightseeing and things to do or just a few minutes with the bus or the underground. I arrived really late on the night of 22nd and had to wait in the airport until next morning when I could get a bus from the airport to London. Next day I didn't do much, mostly wandering around the city having Starbucks and Costa coffee and enjoying the air of the picturesque but also modern and nonetheless wonderful London. In Saturday I decided it was time for "shopping action" in the famous Oxford Street. A street long enough to fit at least half of the population of London since Saturday was the best day for tourists and locals to enjoy their shopping. The crowds of people were amazing and most of the shops packed with people. However, the shopping experience was pleasant enough and I had the opportunity to go to the majority of them( Debenhams, House of Fraser, Topshop, River Island, Selfridge's etc.). When the shopping finished and I could not feel more exhausted I just rested at home with my friend and at night we were lucky enough to enjoy one of the world's most famous pizza called Domino's. Everything was really delicious and finger-licking.
Next and sadly final day in London, I decided to stick to my relaxing programme and go for breakfast at My Old Dutch, an incredible and yet unmissable pancake house where your stomach and your mind go crazy with the huge variety of pancakes served. The service was amazing and the pancakes incredible( btw I got butterscotch pancakes with strawberries, blueberries and maple syrup). After filling our stomach with this yummy breakfast we went to the most popular and expensive shopping mall in the UK, aka Harrods. Harrods was an experience on its own and you can't get enough of it even if you stay for a whole week in it. It's huge and it's really easy to even get lost in it. However, it's a really nice opportunity to see all the expensive bags, clothes and millions of accessories. What is more, Harrods' restaurant and patisserie are something you should definitely see and I highly recommend you grab one of these huge slices of cakes that are available.
The last day on the 26th of January I didn't really have the time to do more things since I was leaving early that day so that was mostly what I did in London.
All in all, London is an amazing city with numerous things to see and do and it's the city where dreams can come true.

Haircare Essentials

Wednesday 21 January 2015

I think it was about time I talked about haircare products. Winter can make hair dry and dehydrated and it can look like crap if we don't take good care of it often. Also drying our hair and straightening it can only result to damaged hair and that's something no girl wants. So I reviewed on some products which I think are hair saviours.
I am totally a fan of these two amazing products which have absolutely changed the way my hair looks now.The one on the left is the Pantene Pro-V Balsam Spray Conditioner and you can apply it  either to wet hair after your shower or even dry hair. It helps hair strengthen and makes fine hair less prone to damage from styling. What is more, I recently discovered as a friend told me that it also works in order to untangle hair.
The second product is one of the first serums that I totally believe it worked for my weak and damaged hair. It is from Garnier Fructis and it's one of the new serums for Volume and Strength. It smells amazing and you kinda get this feeling of just leaving the hairdresser's. To be honest, I didn't expect it to be so good but it is. You apply it along the ends of your hair and just leave it and enjoy the wonderful smell.
Next two products are from Toni & Guy. Personally if I could own the whole Toni & Guy stand I would consider myself extremely happy. However, I have only got two products and they are simply amazing. The first one on the left is a heat protection mist which you can use right before any kind of styling. I have been using it for a pretty long time because I straighten my hair in a daily basis and all I have to say about this product is that I am so in love with it. If it wasn't for this my hair would be destroyed. Next thing on my favourite haircare list the Sea Salt Texturising Spray and I mostly use it throughout summer and especially my summer vacation, because it makes your hair look like you just went out of the sea, giving you this wavy even curly result that nothing else can give you. I love the fact that it turns my hair from a total mess to a kinda natural and care free look and it's a light-weight product. Besides who doesn't love having the beach look all day long during her holidays?
So basically these are my haircare essentials that I wear all year long and don't know how I could survive without them. They are very reasonable priced and I would 100% suggest them to all of you
Love and Kisses to all,

Beauty hauling!!!

Wednesday 14 January 2015

Hello,
After a lot of thought I ended up deciding that the best first post for my blog would be a beauty post of the cosmetics I purchased recently. Besides is there any girl that doesn't love her makeup?I don't think so. And that's why I've been looking forward to share my new cosmetic with you. As far as face products are concerned I got the "Porefessional Primer" from Benefit which basically promises to minimize your pores and set a perfect base for your foundation.Although I haven't had the opportunity to try yet, I would say that based on the reviews it appears to be a product which just works miracles for every type of face because of it's lightweight, oil-free and silky consistency. If anyone of you has tried it, then let me know in your comments.Personally I can't wait to try it on next time I do my make-up. Also I really needed a new and innovative blusher so when I saw the packaging of this Too Faced "Pink Leopard" blushing powder, I immediately fell in love with it and I can't believe that such a beautiful product would be added to my make up collection. Eyeswise, I thought I should try a new mascara after the Haute too Naughty mascara from Mac since I got a bit tired of it, and got the "They are Real" Benefit mascara which promises amazing results and up to 94% bigger lashes. I hope it works fine for me since it's the first time I'm purchasing it. Next, I chose a product for my brows since they really needed serious help. I accidentally run into one of the Maybelline "Brow drama" brow shaper which is surprisingly good according to its price. It's the second time I'm getting it and I'm happy that such a product exists in my life. Last but not least, lip products. If you get to know me better you will realise how crazily mad I am about lipsticks and generally anything having to do with my lips. I don't know why I just got pretty obsessed and use a great variety of them almost every single day. New entrie to my make-up collection are the new "color drama" lipliner (but also used as a lipstick) in a fluorescent pink. After that, comes a lip miracle called Revlon "Colorbust" in the shade 220 which is not simply a lipstick, but also a lip balm with incredible moisturising abilities and with a great smell of mint which makes you feel fresh and clean for the whole time you are wearing it. Last but not least, I recently found out how important in my life Nyx cosmetics are since they combine good prices and quality of the best highstreet products. And that is exactly the reason I got two of the soft matte lip creams in the shade "Milan" and "Antwerp" which might look like a lip gloss but as soon as they touch your lips they become matte and can literally stay there forever. Finally, I chose to get a lip pencil in the shade "Pale Pink" in order to make my lips better shaped and to fit it with my pink and nude lipsticks. That was my Beauty Haul for now and there is soon going to be a YouTube video about it. Till then have a great time
Much love to all of you,
Alina
